   Taiwan is surrounded by many countries. Like Eastern Asia which is about 161 kilometers (100 miles) away from the Southeast part of mainland China. Also it's about 483 kilometers (300 miles) away from off north of the Philippines island of Luzon. East Chinas seas border Taiwan. The territory is slightly smaller than the combined area of Maryland and Delaware.

    The population in Taiwan in November 2000 was estimated around at 22,257,000. At the age of fourteen and under comprise 22 percent of the population, while the other 70 percent belong in the 15 to 64 age bracket. In 1905 the population was 3.12 million and which doubled to 6.02 million by 1945. Taiwanese population increased by the average of 3.84 percent. But by 1997 it dropped to 1 percent.

   The government is laying down the foundation for national information infrastructure through 30 different projects to make the country into a competitive and knowledge-based society. The different projects are forced to enhancing broadband access.

  In the 1950’s, the farming of livestock’s Taiwan was a backyard enterprise. It’s been 4 decades since the livestock grew into multi-billion industry and has become a major export product.
