Irish culture
Music in Ireland has always been popular since the first Harp was brought to the island many years ago and has played a huge part on shaping the Irish culture. What is unique about Irish Music is the different variations of style that is created such as Irish Celtic music better known as traditional Irish music, Irish rebel music, Irish dance music and even Irish rock.
Meals in Ireland consist of many different food groups such as vegetables, fish, meat, spuds (potatoes) etc. The most popular being spuds as so many variety of meals can be made such as poundies (mashed), chips (also known as fries or wedges), jacket potatoes or just plain old spuds. The method used to cook and serve the potatoes is usually decided on what other types of food will be served such as lamb chops, sausages, peas, gravy etc. The spud is so popular because off how cheap they are to buy and also the many diferent variations of meals that can be cooked from them.
A common connection with the Irish culture and Ireland would be that of the Irish dance, a tradition that has been followed for hundreds of years within Ireland which was spread throughout the world during the huge migration of Irish people during the ‘Great famine’ in the 1800’s. Today Irish dance has become more famous due to the tour of the hit show “The Riverdance” which still tours the world with sellout shows in almost every country. Robert SG
