Music

If ever there's been a melting pot in this country it's been
mostly in music and sometimes in the food. We didn't invite
each other into the mosques and synagogues... Music defies
separating. That's where you hear words that mean something.

House of Blues (HOB) Justin Malicziczn

Last week on Wednesday February 31 st my colleagues and I visited the House of Blues and got a chance to view the art and listen to the band tell us of how music came to be it is today through the many influences of musicians through the many eras. It was a very educational experience, and also a very fascinating perspective of music, not just sound or noise, but history in the making. Its instruments started from simple scratch boards and pipes, to Jazzy basses and horns made of chrome and wood. Music is a culture, the band told us, it’s a way of life, just as we as people expand, so does music and its many genres.

The art portion, though most portraits looked like a three year old drew it, meant something of greater value. How and why the musicians did them was the real importance of them. One was done on a piece of cardboard, and there was a story attached to it. The artist’s house was on fire so he got all his paintings out on to the lawn so they wouldn’t burn. In so doing his art was displayed, allowing people to see his creations and eventually end up getting money for them.
