I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in an nation where they will not be Judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. -Martin Luther King Jr.

I think this quotation by Dr. King is about how people judge people by the color of their skin. It would be much better if people wouldn't make their opinions on someone before they actually met them. by Maureen, gr. 8
LIFE LEARNING LESSON
I’ve been in a situation where I learned my lesson. One day I was walking around City Heights around Rosa Parks with about 10 to 15 of friends. We were all dressed with baggy clothes and we were all bald. People saw us all together and thought as trouble makers but, we were not. Three of my friends were on probation and they had no reason walking around the block with possession of drugs.
As we were walking were walking the police stopped us for racial profiling. By the way we dress and by the way we look, led them to believe that we were up to no good. Once they caught us the police called for back up because it as so many of us. It was about 4 or 5 police cars that were there to take us to the police station. Once we got to the station they searched all of us one by one my three friends that were on probation were next to me and I was one the last once to be searched.
They got my three friends and they took them in for possession of marijuana and because they were on probations for about a year or two. An hour later I was the last one to be searched and they didn’t find me with nothing so the police ended up letting me go after an hour later or two. The police officer gave a big speech about not hanging out with people that were trouble makers.
The lesson I learned from that whole experience was that your whole life you are going to have friends like that but you can’t talk to them. They are still going to be around you like family, you don’t have to hang around with them every day but sometimes you can. It can be a family member you hang with but you are still going to talk to them once someone told me that. That’s one of the lessons I learned. Anthony, gr.11

When the fires in San Diego were happening the Chargers helped out. 21 helped out on Thanksgiving! He gave out free turkeys to fire victims. Sean Merriman built back their houses. When the fires came around I went to Qualcomm stadium and entertained the victims because they had nothing. My dad came with his musician friends and they played music. I sang. They were so happy to have music because they didn’t have anything like a warm house or nice beds. Let’s all be kind to people in need.
