Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Accreditation Leadership
WASC is important to everyone, whether they know it or not. If WASC does not accredit our school, everyone’s diploma will not be worth anything and we would not be able to get into our dream colleges. That is why it is very important to get good feedback from WASC and make sure we do a good job.
I am the student representative for the WASC Committee and I made a power point presentation on what WASC is and what its purpose is, and my goal is to go to all the classes in my school to inform students of the important part they play when the WASC Committee comes and to prepare them for the WASC visit in early March.
As the student representative of WASC, I guess you can call me the leader of the students. Another leader I admire for what he did was Cesar Chavez. He changed the way field workers were treated and the salary they got for their manual labor.
This project has helped me become a better communicator because when I give my presentations to all the classes, I practice my communication skills and this helps me become more comfortable talking in front of a large group of people. This skill can be very useful in my future, because I plan to major in Business Administration. And I would have to talk to a lot of people.
By the end of this project, I think I will be a better communicator and I will be more comfortable talking to a big group of people. I also hope that we make a good impression on the WASC Committee and we get accredited, and the next visit from them will be six years from now. --Muir student

Teaching Robotics
Technology is advancing everyday computers are getting faster, cell phones can do more, and everything is starting to go digital. With all these advancements it’s hard sometimes to keep up to how to operate and use the new technology, that’s why I wanted to teach the young and up and coming generations how to use this technology through the fun of Lego Mindstorms.
Robots are machines that were created and programmed by man to do jobs that are too tedious, dangerous, or t complicated for humans, but they can also be fun as well. My mentor in this field is Mr. Eric Ailor he works at (Genetic??) he got where he is right know after working and going to school for about 22 years. He likes his job because he likes challenging stuff and he likes what he does. One of the main reasons I really look up to him is because he has a really good work ethic and he’s always encouraging, “With hard work and determination you can achieve anything.” Because of how fast Technology advances I seen this as not only as opportunity for them to have fun but learn as well. They will be using software programs to tell the robots what to do, and maybe make some new friends in the way. --Muir student
