Doctor Doctor Safe, sure, Caring, helping, saving Superhero Poem by Second Grade Class 2-25-2005

EMT My uncle is a firefighter/EMT. He works in the San Diego District. He gets calls ranging from crashes, fires to somebody slipping on wet floors. He receives calls all night long into the morning hours.  His work hours vary form week to week. He works with a group of about eight different men and women. He loves all his partners. Everytime they are out and he's not at work, they drive by his house and honk the horn and sound the sirens. He comes from a family that has been in the fire-fighting business all their lives. His two brothers brothers are firefighters and their father was the chief of their local fire station for over twenty years. I think he will continue in this job. It pays well and he has full benefits. It sounds like a great job, but some of the stories would make me never want to be a part of it. AJ, gr. 12

Pediatrician I would like to be a pediatrician. I love kids, and I would like to help cure children’s sicknesses.  It’s a good paying job.  I would go to college for four years and then I would attend medical school for at least five or six years.  I’d also try to get advice and help from other pediatricians and ask them how they succeeded in their dream to become one. Family Health Services I need Family Health Services to learn how to be healthy.  I would like to work there because it is quiet and you learn lots of stuff. Yasmine, Grade 2

Social Security Home Health Care Social Security helps people with diseases like diabetes. They put some one in your family to take care of you, and they pay that person. This job is at the home of the patient. My dad is in this program, and they are paying me to take care of him. Many people work in home health care.  Mostly the pay is $8.00 an hour.  People like this job because it is an at-home job. I think that the home health industry will keep growing.  Just knowing how to take care of a sick person and understanding diseases is very useful. Yadira, Gr. 12

Animal Health Care I want to be a veternarian.  I will help animals and make sure they are healthy. I will learn about animals and their health and their bodies.  I want this job because I love animals, and I'm not afraid of aggressive animals. Kristina, Gr. 5
