The California Coastal Sage and the Chaparral ecoregion is located along the southern coast of California, has a lot of diverse animals and plants in its area. The coastal scrub area is an endangered habitat that is disappearing right before our eyes.
A big portion of the area is being threatened my human development, in real estate.
The California coastal sage and chaparral encompasses coastal terraces, plains, and foothills along the pacific coast of northwestern Mexico and southern California United States. The Santa Rosa Mountains of the peninsular range are included, although the San Jacinto Mountains just to the northwest are considered in the adjacent ecoregion.
The eight Channel Islands are also part of the ecoregion as are isle Guadalupe and isle cedros. The climate is Mediterranean, with cold wet winters, and dry, hot summers.
