Rana aurora draytonii is the scientific name given to the red-legged frog.
Personally, I don’t know why they were named the RED legged frog if the legs are the same color as the whole body.
The California red-legged frog is the largest native frog in western U.S. It is one of two subspecies of the red-legged frog found on the pacific coast ; the other is the northern red-legged frog Rana aurora aurora.
