Sea Lion Zalophus califonianus is the scientific name for the California sea lion. They are seen from Baja California to Alaska. Their coloring ranges from a tan-like color to a chocolate brown color that appears black when wet. It is said that their face resembles that of a dog because they have a pointed muzzle. Their long flippers have nails and are leather like. The male is very large weighing at about 800 pounds, while the female only weighs about 250 pounds .California sea lions are quick learners. That is why they are easy to train for the circus. They have very loud barks almost like a dog’s; pups have a bleat like call. A California sea lions diet consists of schooling fish, rockfish, squid, flatfish, hake, lamprey, dogfish and salmon.

The environmental changes affecting sea lion are oil spills, fishermen, and garbage in the ocean. They can get trapped in fisherman’s net and oil spills. Garbage can destroy the food and make sea lion sick. Arianna

Rattlesnakes Snakes have a long, legless, flexible body that is covered with dry scales. When snakes move about on land they usually slide on their belly. Snake’s eyes are covered by clear scales rather than movable eyelids; therefore, their eyes are always open. They repeatedlyFlick out their narrow, forked tongue, using it to bring odors to a special sense organ in the mouth. Jose

Alisah11 T he Western rattlesnake can reach lengths slightly over 4 feet but 1/2 feet is more than norm The rattlesnakes mostly live across the Western United States like Mexico and Canada.
