Loss of Species in Similar Ecosystems

Welcome to the 20/20 Challenge!

Two schools in very similar climate zones on opposite sides of the world--in Occupied Palestine and in the USA-- are paired to study and exchange information on loss of species in their areas. The schools are Talitha Kumi and Muir.
According to the project, "the points at which collaboration must occur and be documented:
• Sharing perspectives
• Defining and clarifying the issue
• Identifying interests
• Generating ideas
• Developing criteria for deciding on a plan
• Evaluating options
• Developing plan
• Sharing implementation strategies--Create a PowerPoint, a video, a podcast, a forum, etc." Dear Mrs L,

thank you very much for your letter. We passed on to our students your letters of introduction and ask them to respond personally or in general. During the last two weeks we got the introduction to the book by Sr. Sylvia and we fairly shure that our studend understood the problems and the ideas of the book. We appreciate your suggestion to work on species of animals and your informations are highly welcome. I just want to inform you that we close our school for one week due to the End of Ramadan and I will meet our group again on 22th of October.

Kind regards

H P

To Mr. P regarding 20/20 Challenge

I hope that your school year is going well. We have introduced our students to your school and to the idea of a collaborative project about biodiversity in your area and ours.

This introduction was made easier by the fact that our Natural History Museum has an exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls showing now, and there are numerous photos and displays about the geographic similarities of San Diego and Israel. We are said to be twins on opposite sides of the earth as far as climate, geology, and vegetation. It will be very interesting to compare species of animals. I plan to send you information if you still want that.

To share perspectives, I am attaching letters of introduction from some of our students. Do not feel obligated to respond to all of them. We are just saying hello and sending a photo to establish a connection between our schools. I think that if we then exchange information about animal species and decide how to raise awareness of or to improve a situation, we will have the content for a good final project in any format.

Best wishes, AL
